Your essential checklist for a week in the sun!

1- Clothing: an idea of what to pack per person for a week, to be adapted of course to each individual depending on what you can carry in your luggage, your style and the activities planned!

• 3 pairs of trousers

• 3/4 shorts or skirts or dresses

• 1 evening outfit if planned

• 7 T-shirts or tops

• 7 pairs of underwear

• 1 pair of pyjamas

• 2 swimsuits

• 3/4 pairs of socks

• 1 cap or hat

• 1 or 2 long-sleeved shirts (for mosquitoes in the evening or to protect you from the sun during the day)

• 1 fleece jacket (for cool evenings and to wear on the plane or local bus; they like to turn the air conditioning up high in hot countries!)

• 1 rain jacket (you never know when you might get caught in a tropical downpour)

• 1 scarf/bandana

• 1 beach towel

• 1 sarong or fouta

• 1 shower towel (if these are not provided by the hotel, check beforehand!)

• 1 mini umbrella (depending on the season)

• Footwear: trainers/flip-flops/smart shoes

2- Toiletries bag

• Shower gel

• Shampoo

• Toothpaste

• Toothbrush (dental floss)

• Hairbrush/comb

• Moisturiser

• Nail clippers/cotton buds/small mirror

• Small soap

• Deodorant

• Medication if required

• Mosquito repellent

• Sun cream

• Hand sanitiser

• Earplugs

3- For girls: make-up bag

• Lipstick

• Mascara

• Pencil

• Face powder

• Eye shadow

• Make-up remover / cotton pads

• Hair ties / hair clips

• Sanitary towels / tampons

• Perfume

• Moisturiser / Monoï

• 1 nail polish / 1 nail file

3- First aid kit

• Alcohol

• Plasters (take 3 different sizes)

• Disinfectant wipes

• Mini scissors

• Arnica homeopathic granules (takes up less space, for bumps and bruises)

• Smecta (for stomach problems)

• Biafine (for sunburn or minor burns)

• Saline solution (if you get something in your eye or have a minor wound, etc.)

• 1 bandage

• Compresses

• Tweezers (for splinters)

• Cotton wool

• Soothing cream for mosquito bites

• For those allergic to insect bites: Aspi venom and Cetirizine tablets (anti-allergy)

• 1 Swiss Army knife

• 1 box of painkillers (such as Paracetamol, Doliprane or Efferalgan)

• 1 box of anti-inflammatories (such as Ibuprofen or Nurofen)

4- Mini sewing kit

• 2 buttons

• 2 mini spools of white and black thread

• 2 needles

• 1 safety pin

• Super glue

• Small scissors

5- For leisure activities

• A good book

• Card games/dice

• For children: think about bringing a few games and toys

6- In your handbag or satchel

• ID card / Passport

• Boarding pass / Hotel voucher

• Credit card

• Cash (at least 200€ to exchange on arrival or in case the cash machine is out of order)

• Health insurance card / European health insurance card if you have one

• Mobile phone and charger / earphones

• An external battery (power bank), just in case, it's always good to have a spare battery

• Sunglasses (and prescription glasses if needed)

• House and car keys

• Hand sanitiser

• 1 pen and paper
