Often, prices can be halved if you travel just two or three days earlier or later!

So before booking your trip, check prices one or two days before or after your original travel dates – it could make all the difference!

For example, travelling two days before the first day of the school holidays is often cheaper!

The secret to paying less for your flight ? Compare prices on several websites and over several days

Visit travel agency websites (Go Voyage, Fram, Promovacances, Opodo, etc.), as well as comparison sites (Kayak, etc.) and airline websites (Air France, Ryanair, Easyjet, etc.). Compare them yourself to find the best price for your trip!

Stick to well-known websites! Don't get ripped off. If you see a hotel that's £2 cheaper but on a website you've never heard of, it's better to go for the one that's a little more expensive but comes with guarantees!

Do your research several times a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays for example, as prices may vary slightly, but don't wait too long, as prices will inevitably rise if you wait until the following week, regardless of the day!

You have two options:

• You can purchase an all-inclusive holiday on the same website: flights + hotel + meals

• Or you can purchase your flight on one website and your all-inclusive hotel on another website! This can work out almost half the price

Don't forget that the price shown for a hotel alone will be for two people, whereas the price shown for an all-inclusive holiday will be per person! (However, don't forget to add the transfer from the airport to the hotel!)

Once again: check prices on as many websites as possible and compare them! (Auto Europe, Rental Cars, Alamo, Sixt, Hertz, etc.) And above all, compare prices including all fees!

• Is insurance included? Some rental companies include it, others provide insurance through your credit card, and still others will charge you the price without insurance (which will seem cheap), but once you arrive, you'll be unpleasantly surprised to find that you have to pay a huge amount extra for mandatory insurance! Be careful, many people have been caught out by this!

• Is the second driver included in the price? If not, how much extra will it cost?

• Is there unlimited mileage?

• Are GPS and car seats included?

• Is the rental company located at the airport, or will you need to take a shuttle or taxi to pick up your car in town? And what are the opening hours for picking up and returning your car?

• Also check the price differences if you rent your car for 4 or 5 days or a week! Sometimes we think we are saving money by renting a car for only a few days, when in fact most rental companies offer more attractive prices if you rent for at least a week!

• Is an international driving licence compulsory in the country you are visiting?

• Check with your company to see if they offer discounts with certain rental companies and look online to see if there are any promo codes or discount vouchers you can use!

• Finally, always read reviews about the rental company you plan to use. They will give you the best insight into the company and how reliable they are!
